Brian's Winter

by Heidi Welu
(Dubuque, Iowa U.S.A.)

One of my favorite books is Brian's Winter, by Gary Paulsen. It has a lot of things about survival. Like making a shelter out of sticks, something like a lean-to. And I think there was something about a snare trap? Anyway, I learned a lot about survival.

I took the quiz on this website and got a 10. Some more stuff i learned about Brian's Winter is how to deal with a moose that is attacking you: crawl up in a ball and pretend to be dead. It is a really good book and I think you should read it.

Novel NEW
by: Sara

This is no survival book as the other books reviewed on this website. “Brian’s Winter” is a novel. The book is about a young boy named Brian who is forced to stay alone in the wilderness
through the winter after he is in a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness.

It is a readable book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hatchet
by: Wood Rat

If you liked brians winter you should like the first book titled Hatchet also. I think it was actually a bit better. The movie A Cry in the Wild was based on the book hatchet and is worth watching too.
