I feel any survival knife should always be sharp and clean. Strong stainless for the blade. The handle should be made of rubber or a material that will not become slippery when your hands are wet.I have the option of having several survival knives. It all depends what I am doing. If it is hiking in the woods, or traveling up a ravine, or in a kayak. It depends on the situation that you are in. That is why I like multiple knives. There are plenty of manufacturers out there, from Gerber, to Buck, to CRKT, to Camillus. That is your choice, and only your choice. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Seek people out who know knives.

tip for survival knife choosing
by: Junbin

The best knife should have a rubber grip on it, 3 inches. The metal should be stainless steel 4 inches or 11 cm. really useful for stabbing and would fit nicely for cutting wood or others. It should be cleaned regularly and sharp.
