what happens if you get wet with rain or fall into water? those soap dishes are not water tight.

I used to use an old, metal, band-aid container for pretty much the same thing. Sounds like this is about the same size, which means it would be just big enough to hold a small pocket knife, some first aid stuff, and a small fire-starting kit.

Currently I'm using an old, nylon, 35-mm, point and shoot camera case with a belt strap. I can carry much more stuff in that, including a wind-up, LED flashlight in case I get stuck somewhere after dark.
