Distilling urine for survival

I know many of you will turn your head at the thought of this, but I feel that if you are ever in dire need of help and are actually on the brink of DYING from lack of water, this tip may just pop back in your head and for one brief moment you recall it. I myself have never had the misfortune of needing water SO bad, but I have to admit I did try this and it actually does WORK.

You will need two plastic bottles with the same size mouth opening on them. You will need some type of tape IE: duct tape or electrical tape ( these should already be in your Survival Pack anyway).

O.k. so heres the tip.

You have to urinate into one of the bottles as much as you can, the more the better. Now with the other bottle you need to tape it to the top of the other bottle so both mouths are lined up together.

Now CAREFULLY lay them both into the hole you have dug. The bottle with the urine in it needs to be where sunlight can hit it as long as possible, the other bottle needs to have some dirt or sand layered over it to cover it completely.

Let the sun shine down on the bottle as long as you can, letting it sit over night is best. Once you have let it sit there SLOWLY raise the bottles from the dirt, one side will have urine in it the other should have a couple of ounces of WATER in it.

This is based off the SOLAR WATER COLLECTION TECHNIQUE. IT DOES WORK !!!!!! I know this sounds weird, but sometimes life throws us curves, and we have to adapt to them.

Thanks for reading and Happy Survival.....

I can't believe that anyone who wrote any part of this has actually tried this. Here is why: Fresh urine is safe to drink (see urine therapy). If you are in survival mode and all you possibly have is fresh urine, just drink it. If you actually manage to distill your urine, even with a perfect laboratory distillery, the product you end up with is ammonia saturated water. That is much more difficult to drink than fresh urine. Yes, the minerals will be left behind and not carried by the water vapor. However, ammonia is a gas that is trapped by the kidneys to be easily transported by the urine and eliminated from the body. During the distillation process the ammonia is released and it is very soluble in water. So, the "water" you are planning to drink is otherwise pure water BUT saturated with ammonia gas. Most people would rather just die that to try to drink ammonia water. For myself, I would much rather drink my fresh, safe urine.
On the other hand, You could filter the urine through some soil (if you had enough urine) and the anaerobic bacteria would feast on the ammonia and leave you with much cleaner water. Then, if possible. you should filter and boil the water.
Always check and verify this kind of information
BEFORE you are actually in survival mode. Bueno!

about the urine turned to water.
by: Anonymous

I think you forgot a few steps. you said put the mouth of both bottles together and tape them. what is filtering the urine from pouring into the other bottle? you did not say what to do to the tops of the bottles accept to gape them together and lay them down and bury one, like I said, if this is how you do it, then the urine would spill into the other bottle. can you be more clear on this? more detailed on how to keep the urine from going into the other bottle that you say will be water?? Thanks.

Proven tip

THIS TECHNIQUE HAS BEEN USED BY OUR MILITARY PERSONAL AROUND THE WORLD FOR OVER 50 YEARS IN ADVANCED SURVIVAL SKILLS AND TRAINING. I WAS GIVEN THIS TIP BY ONE OF THE 10TH MOUNTAIN DIVISION SPECIAL FORCES OFFICERS. I FEEL ANYTHING THAT THE GOVERNMENT SPENDS TO TEACH AND TRAIN OUR ARMED FORCES IS SOMETHING WORTH WHILE. ALSO THE WHOLE 2 OZ. IS NOT AN EXACT AMOUNT THATS WHY I STATED THE MORE URINE YOU CAN PRODUCE THE BETTER.....

distilling? use a tube!
by: Shaykh Idris

If one were that hard up for water: bad planning? why not use a plastic tube? Is also good for getting water out of hard to get places [ suck on it] it will distil anything with ease and safety with the set-up that you have described, and there would be little risk of mixing the two. good idea ****
