In my opinion "How To Think Like A Survivor" by Tom Watson as a good survival book. However, I have read a couple of other survival books I also like,
for example, the "SAS Survival handbook".

Think like a survivor beforehand

This is a good alternative if you are looking for a book that will cover the basic steps and rules of wilderness survival.

The aim of this book is to prepare you mentally for dealing with any wilderness survival situation. It will help you to think through potential survival situations and find ways to overcome the unexpected in the wilderness.

Each of the basic survival skills as shelter, water, food, fire, signals, navigation and
first aid has its own chapter and are covered with good advices and comments.

The second chapter of the book is about preparation, what you have to do before you leave home. This is important. Before you head for the backcountry, prepare your trip well. Being prepared and anticipating potential emergencies is a far better mode to maintain than trying to endure and incident that takes you by surprise.
