My Favorite Survival Knife

by Charlie
(Nashville, TN, USA)

Cold Steel SRK

Cold Steel SRK

Is the Cold Steel SRK. It looks a lot like the Fallkniven above. The blade is covered with a Teflon coating which helps to protect the AUS 8A Stainless steel.

The clip point is extremely strong but fine enough for delicate work. The knife is 3/16 of an inch thick which makes a strong tip without sacrificing sharpness. It is heavy enough for chopping, but light enough for the jab or parry.

I have used it for 5 years for hiking and canoe camping in the Boundry Waters. I've dressed deer, goats and squirrels with it. If I'm in the woods, it's on my hip.

I like the feel of this knife. But I have large hands and need a large handle.
