RANDALL HOLLOW HANDLE
by: JOSH

Another good knife with a hollow handle is the Smith& Wesson model 6030. They are very hard to find though. I have carried one as a Bushcraft knife for over 10 years. I would not however consider batoning or beating on it. I carry an RTAK II or ESEE 6 for those tasks.

RAT 7
by: Anonymous

You can't go wrong. It is a beast. Seriously if it fails you I will buy you another one...I've used dozens of knives a SOG seal pup is a good knife but nothing compared t0 the RAT 7. A Cold Stee; SRK is a good knife but a RAT 7 blows is away...

There are a lot of good knives out there that will do the job but but the RAT 7 is my choice....it has never failed me and I've abused it....

Yes, full tang...if it isn't, any knife that doesn't have a full tang is worthless in the wilderness...you're just asking for trouble.

ESEE
by: Anonymous

Nice...Based on the quality of my RAT 7, if it is made by Randall/Perrin, I'd take it with me sight unseen deep into the wilderness. These things are tough, tough, tough. These are not hunting knives but would have no problem butchering anything you can bring down. If I had the choice, I'd take a Randall anyday...hunting knives aren't made for the abuse these are made for...break your knife and you are in the weeds. (always carry a second)

Weight of the RAT 7
by: Anonymous

I just weighed my RAT 7 and it was 1.3 lbs. Heavy, yes, but worth it....It isn't going to fail you...However, I didn't empty the side pouch which contains a credit card diamond sharpener, a big magnesium firestarter...aprox. 1" x 3", a LED light...one of the small ones that you put on your keychain, and a extra flat whistle. My 120 db whistle is on my lanyard...near my neck hooked on with a hair binder which is tougher than a rubber band and it stretches up to my mouth. (no bear can cover his ears and run at the same time...

Another handy thing about the spike axe is that I can stick the spike in a fallen log and turn it over...you never know what's underneath...I've also used it to carry logs like a suitcase...

Nice review
by: PreppingToSurvive

Nice review. Finding a good knife that you'd trust your own life with is important.

I wish Amazon had more information about the knife. It's size, weight, etc. I'm assuming it has a full tang?

Thanks!

Joe
