Rice is an easy to pack food

by Alex Wiser
(Florida)

Rice is an easy to pack food that tastes well with just about every type of meat. This scrumptious grain is simply boiled in water. However, in order to cook it, you must measure it. With every cup of rice, add two cups of water(the Rice must expand). But, other than that, it's easy! To season Rice, add a few pinches of salt, garlic, and black pepper.

It is good to know that even with a tupperware container that is small enough to fit in the small pouch on the side of a hiking pack, you can make a whole crock-pot full of Rice.

The seasonings can be carried in a small zip-lock bag. Mix the three magical ingredients together so they can be easily applied to the Rice.

It takes quite a long time for Rice to go bad so it can be used in long hikes or maybe even expeditions. Never eat Rice raw because it expands tremendously(this is why birds can explode from eating it). On those cold or warm nights in the wilderness, some steaming Rice fits well with an empty stomach.

Good post! I have used rice on my hiking trips for a afternoon meal, and it is easy an compact an lite weight.

Tip-put as much dry rice as u want in a container an then add water till it hits your first joint on your index finger. You'll have enough water for proper boiling.

Tip2-add spices and or sauce for a little flavor.
