Start a fire with ice

by Paul
(United States)

Lens made of ice

Lens made of ice

If you have no matches or lighter you can use ice to start a fire. Take an ice piece in your hand and form it into a lense to magnify the suns rays like a magnifying glass. I have done this. It does work.

Not easy but it can be done
by: Larry

Remember to shape it fatter in the center and thinner on the edges. Find a nice clear piece of ice like from a lake or puddle.

Making fire with ice

It does not work as good as a magnifying lens, but it can be done.
Take advantage of every opportunity to practice this skill.

This seems to be extremely tricky. Anyone else that have any experience to start a fire with ice?
