Try a machete

I'm not going to go into a particular brand, but I would like people to consider the use of the machete because of it's use factor. I realize it's more to carry. However, one can hack your way through dense foliage and even cut trees with it due to it's mass and it's not expensive..give one a try...

Of all machetes I've used (15+) by far my favorite is a Ghurka Kukri. KaBar makes one that can be had for 45 bucks or so. It's weight forward, full tang design makes it perfect for use as a hatchet (usually MORE effective on smaller jobs) and great for any job with a knife.
