Adapt your wilderness survival
kits for your trip

In wilderness emergency situations, a few key items in your wilderness survival kits can make the difference between success and failure.

Everyone embarking on a wilderness adventure should carry a personal kit. While it is entirely possible to assemble your own homemade survival kit, there are a number of commercially produced kits. Be sure that your kit meets your specific needs and the wilderness environment that you are venturing into.

Your wilderness survival kits

Select items you can use for more than one purpose. If you have two items that will serve the same function, pick the one you can use for another function. Do not duplicate items, as this increases the size and weight of your kit. Split your kit in two parts.

One part should consist of a few key survival items you always carry on your body, your personal pocket survival kit. The other part, your pouch style wilderness survival kits, for more bulky survival items that you do not necessarily need to have with you but want to keep close-by for emergencies. Know how to use each and every item in your kits.

First aid kit

Remember you need a wilderness first aid kit that matches your wilderness trip plans.

Survival knife

As a wilderness adventurer you should always carry a survival knife. Your knife is your most important survival tool. Select a knife that suits your needs. If there is an emergency, you will be glad you always carry it. It can make all the difference in the fight for survival.

Winter car survival kit

Even you are not a wilderness camper or hiker you have to worry about knowing how to survive outdoors. Are you driving in remote areas during winter weather conditions? Read on . . . .
